Was Oscar Pistorius' Girlfriend Pregnant?

A bombshell new report has claimed that Oscar Pistorius may haveshot his girlfriend dead after learning that she was pregnant with his child.

Earlier this week, American tabloid The National Inquirer reported Steenkamp had been shot because she was pregnant. But the family of Reeva Steenkamp have categorically denied this rumour.

Earlier unsubstantiated rumours suggesting Pistorius had been concerned his girlfriend was cheating on him had sparked the row which led to the shooting, the paper said. It inferred Steenkamp informed her lover she was expecting in an attempt to placate him.

Family spokesman Mike Steenkamp said: “The post mortem would have revealed if Reeva was pregnant and it did not reveal anything like this. Maybe it comes from the other side, to garner and build up some sort of support for Oscar.”

Pistorius claims he believed he was shooting at an intruder, but prosecutors say the double-amputee intended to kill the 29year-old.

A funeral service for the law graduate took place last week.

3 Female Students Beaten To Coma For Stealing Underwear In Delta

Ogbegonogo market, in Delta State for allegedly stealing various pants at the boutique line.

Eyewitness said that the suspects were caught with the pants after they had pretended to be customers and paid for two different ones selected from the hangers.

It was gathered that the suspects’ who are undergraduates of the state owned university were said to be regular visitors to the market.

But the trust the traders have in them as regular customers evaporated when one of them, a 200 level mass communication student (names withheld) sought to be accompanied to where they could buy good pants and the suspects paid for two packets of mixed coloured pants and in the process allegedly removed three other packets alongside the ones they bought.

Luck however ran out on them as the trader suddenly noticed the removal of some packets from where they were displayed.

They were said to have been beaten severely by the angry market women who raced to the scene of the incident. Police authorities at the ‘A’ Division Asaba confirmed the incident.

Pope Benedict Speaks Of Church's Stormy Waters In Final Papal Audience (PHOTOS)

Emotions and applauds were on displays yesterday as Pope Benedict XVI made final general appearance to 150,000 people who gathered at the St. Peter’s Square, to say “Grazie!” – “Thank you.” to the crowd toting banners with the same inscription.

Today is the final day of his eight year Papacy which took a dramatic turn when he announced two weeks ago that he would step down by the end of the month. He will meet with 115 cardinals this morning for a final time. The focus of the meeting will be on the election of a new pope.

Most of the cardinals from around the world will meet with Pope Benedict XVI, before he flies out with helicopter to the papal residence at Castel Gandolfo, south of Rome.

Pope Benedict XVI will stay at Castel Gandolfo for about two weeks, while his apartment inside Vatican City is set up. The apartment is believed to be in a monastery.

With chants of “Benedetto!” erupting from the crowd, the mood was far more buoyant than during the Pope’s final Sunday blessing. Pope Benedict had said he decided to retire after realising that, at 85, he simply didn’t have the “strength of mind or body” to carry on.

Pope Benedict who becomes the Bishop of Rome Emeritus from today thanked the people for respecting his decision to resign on grounds of failing strength and ailing health, but more important, reminding them that “it was time for a younger man to lead the Catholic Church into the future.

“To love the church means also to have the courage to take difficult, painful decisions, always keeping the good of the church in mind, not oneself,” Benedict said to thundering applause.

Reports said Pope Benedict clearly enjoyed the crowds, as he took a long victory lap around the square in an open-sided car and stopping to kiss and bless half a dozen children handed to him by his secretary.

The outgoing Pope said he “never felt alone on the job but It was a great burden that God placed on his shoulders as a Pope.”

According to him when he was elected Pope on April 19, 2005, he questioned if God truly wanted it. “‘It’s a great burden that you’ve placed on my shoulders,’”

He thanked his cardinals and colleagues for their guidance and for “understanding and respecting this important decision.”.

He recalled the joy and the light of his papacy and said that he saw a church that was alive.

He will lay aside the red “shoes of the fisherman” that have been part of his papal attire and wear brown loafers given to him by shoemakers during a trip to Leon, Mexico last year. He will wear a “simple white cassock”, Lombardi said.

His lead seal and his ring of office, known as the “ring of the fisherman”, will be destroyed according to Church rules, just as if he had died. source: naij.com

AFCON 2013: CAF Plays Hide & Seek With Super Eagles $1.5 Million Prize Money

Nigerian football officials have disclosed that weeks after the Super Eagles won the African Cup of Nations in South Africa, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) is yet to remit to the cash value of $1.5 million (about N240million) to the champions.

At the grand celebration in Johannesburg on February 10, CAF only openly handed Nigeria the gold plated trophy as well as  gold medals to the players and technical officials without a dummy cheque – as is the practice- indicating the total cash prize due the winners.

A member of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) board Dr Shehu Adamu, conformed Monday night that the ‘Glasshouse’ was yet to receive the prize money from CAF two weeks after Nigeria won the continent’s biggest football showpiece.

Adamu, who is the chairman of NFF Finance and Appropriations Committee, said: “We have not received any alert from CAF regarding the Africa Cup of Nations prize money. We have sent our account number to them and the money is yet to hit the account. We are still waiting for them to pay the money”. source:naijaonpoint.com

‘You Must Get A Degree’ – Davido’s Father Insists

Every parent no matter the circumstances strives hard to live up to that statement and so is Nigerian billionaire businessman Deji Adeleke who seems hell bent on seeing one of his sons David ‘Davido’ Adeleke attending and graduating from University like every other child.

The last two years have been a handful for Davido – he didn’t just make a very successful debut in the Nigerian music scene but accelerated to the A-list spot, something that has taken other A-listers years to achieve. He’s released a debut album with chart topping singles, won international awards and performed in and out of the country, what else could he ask for?

Well, Davido isn’t doing the asking, his father is; more like demanding. NET sources say Mr Adeleke wants his son to enrol in a University and graduate with a degree.
And to make that happen, he has reportedly built an entire department at Babcock University (where he is currently a provost) for Creative Arts which will have Davido and his manager Kamal as the only students for now.

We’re told he has also bought a dedicated car which take the boys to and from school as they work to combine academic commitments with show business.
Davido and Kamal (who had to go back to school because of Davido’s father’s insistence) are using the opportunity to bond, a source tells us.

It is also likely his celebrity cousins Bayo ‘B.Red’ and Sina ‘Sinarambo’ Adeleke will be joining them soon.
‘Davido’s dad believes a lot in his music and HKN. He thinks David can take it to the next level but he also feels education is compulsory foundation for his son’, a source to the family tells us.
We learn he has been helping to put up necessary structures that’ll ensure the boys don’t mess things up. For starters, Mr Adeleke insists on meeting with everyone working with his son.

And the young pop star has so far been co-operative.
Davido’s mother Vera, an educationist herself was until her death in 2003, a lecturer at Babcock University.

New Pope: Ghana's Turkson Is Bookmakers' Favourite

Ghana's Peter Turkson is the Irish bookmakers' favourite to replace Pope Benedict, putting a non-European in pole position to lead the 1.2 billion-member Roman Catholic Church for the first time in more than a millennium.

Irish bookmaker Paddy Power offered odds of 11/4 against for Turkson, meaning successful punters would win 11 pounds for every four staked, while Britain's second largest bookmaker Ladbrokes offered odds of 5/2 against.
Turkson would be the first non-European to lead the Catholic church in more than a millennium if he is chosen to succeed Benedict. Italian Angelo Scola is second favourite according to Paddy Power at 3/1 against.

"Pope Benedict quitting leaves a tall hat to fill - let's just hope God gives him a good reference for his next job," a Paddy Power spokesperson said in a statement. "As for the betting, the real action kicks off now."
The new pope will inherit a Church scarred by Vatileaks and by child abuse scandals in Europe and the United States, both of which may have weighed on Benedict's decision to decide he was too old and weak to continue the papacy.

The pope has two days left before he takes the historic step of becoming the first pontiff in some six centuries to step down instead of ruling for life. Betting on the new pope earlier in February had ranked Nigeria's Cardinal Francis Arinze and Canadian Marc Ouellet alongside Turkson in a three 'cardinal' race.
Some 115 cardinals will enter a closed-door conclave at the Vatican in March. "While Turkson and Scola are currently out in front, let us not forget those fabled words ‘he who enters the conclave as Pope, leaves it as a Cardinal'," the Paddy Power spokesman said. Paddy Power said Turkson has attracted the highest number of bets, accounting for 15 percent of the market and is shouldering the biggest single bet of 5,000 pounds.

The head of the Vatican's justice and peace department, the Ghanaian has been tipped as Africa's frontrunner in a contest heavy with speculation that a Latin American or African could be elected as chief of the 1.2 billion-strong Catholic population. While Canada's Ouellet is still in the running at 7/1 according to Ladbrokes, Arinze's standing at both bookmakers has sunk to 25/1.
Paddy Power said that betting on who will be elected as the new pope is set to become the largest non-sporting market in its history. It said it had taken 300,000 pounds on "pope betting". Dark horses include a fictional character from Irish sitcom Father Ted, the simple-minded Father Dougal McGuire, who has attracted nine more bets than real-life Brazilian Cardinal Claudio Hummes. source:naijaonpoint

My mum’s happy I married a Yoruba girl–Ugochukwu, Make Me boss

By CHRISTY ANYANWU
Ugochukwu George Igbokwe just hates the craze for titles. Despite being the boss of Make Me, an upscale salon in Surulere, Lagos, Igbokwe prefers to tell people that he works with Make Me. And for his profile, he simply states this way: “I am a husband and father of two most beautiful chics in the world.”
Make Me is an ultramodern beauty complex set up Ugochukwu and his Yoruba wife Bukky. There’s has been a seamless blend of beautiful marital relationship that is also minting money in their joint business, which was established after they both lost their jobs in another salon where they first met as mere friends with no romantic attachment. In the heat of the Valentine’s Day celebration, Ugochukwu broke off briefly from work to tell his Bukky’s story.
Excerpts…
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Unlike most people who are craze about titles, I hate titles and designations like Chief, CEO and all that. All I know is that I work for Make Me. I’m a husband and father of two most beautiful chics in the world.
A few days ago, the talk everywhere was about Valentine’s Day. Can you recall any memorable Valentine’s Day you spent with your wife?
(Paused, thought for a moment) My wife and I are both workaholics. And you know that the Val Day that just passed fell on a Thursday. I will be frank with you, everything that revolves around my wife and I is work, work, work because we have targets and things we want to achieve. We are pretty much close and working hard to push through and reach our target. However, there was one particular Valentine’s Day that fell on a weekend. My wife and I moved into Federal Palace hotel after work. It was real fun.
So what did you do about the kids?
I had my mum and my sister in the house. My wife’s sister was also around that year.
As working parents, how do cope with your children?
When my wife gets home, the first thing we do is to get the children ready for bed. Then she starts preparing food because she knows that I won’t stay long before coming home and want to eat as soon as I step in. But I can ‘grab’ anything and eat and that is fine. Besides we try to save as much time as possible to have rest rather than spending so much time cooking food. Usually, she tries to get out of the kitchen by 9 o’clock. When I get home I try to relax and also get some sleep because first thing in the morning we are out.
How did you meet your wife?
We met in our first workplace. I was already working as a barber in a salon where she was employed as the professional stylist. Her second day on the job was a pretty less busy day. Myself and some other workers were all sitting downstairs, chatting and ‘yabbing’ each other. At a point I think she got bored sitting upstairs alone and decided to come downstairs. As soon as she walked past everyone, my colleagues started ‘yabbing’ her too, saying that she was snobbish and didn’t talk to anyone. You know that kind of talk. I quickly hushed them and said, ‘Hey shut up, mind how you talk to her, she is my wife.’ She heard it, turned and looked at me. That was just all.
How come you made that statement?
I don’t know. I just don’t know. I just said it. Maybe I saw a pretty chic that was very quiet. I though, perhaps, it was because she was new in the place and didn’t know anybody. Anyway I just said it as a joke.
Okay how did you get her eventually?
At first, we became friends for a long time and remained so until we both lost our job at that place. Then we decided to set a business together, though we were married as at that time.
Did you know all along that she was going to be your wife?
Not all, marriage just happened along the way. Just before we lost our jobs, one of my aunts had called me and said, ‘we heard you are having something with Bukky.’ And I said, nothing oo! My aunt was not convinced that there was nothing between Bukky and I. She said there had better be something.
I was calm. But it was not just my aunts alone; two other people I have so much respect for also called me to ask about my relationship with Bukky. In addition, one of her aunts also raised the issue. Even our customers made the same observation about us. That was when I laid back and thought about it. I asked myself: what are these people seeing that I am not seeing in Bukky?
Did you have a girlfriend at the time?
Yes. Bukky and I were just friends.
How did she feel about your girlfriend?
It didn’t bother her. She didn’t pry into my personal affairs. Most of the time we only talked about our work, the business and how to make it better.
Then how did you propose to her?
That is the amazing thing. When we started working together, we began planning things together and making projections, setting targets together. We knew what we were going to do in four, six or 12 months. There was no special moment when I said to her, “will you marry me?” The reason was that we were doing everything together. As part of our projection we put in when the wedding would be and also discussed when would start having kids after marriage. We agreed not have kids until two years after marriage. We just worked together.
Then what happened to your girlfriend?
At a point I began to reflect because I never saw her as more than a mere friend and business partner. I suddenly realized that I liked her so much that I didn’t want anything that could jeopardize our friendship. But marriage I wasn’t sure about. I thought if I got pretty much closer in my advances, I might hurt her; so I decided to stay away and just leave it at the level of friendship. But at a point I started thinking, what I am doing? I have never seen anybody that has good character in terms of her mind, her being and personality. It was then that I started considering her as a prospective life partner.
She’s Yoruba and you are Ibo. Do you speak Yoruba?
No.
So how do you cope at first?
If anybody had told me I would marry a Yoruba lady, I would probably take it very personal. I probably would fall out with you, that you were trying to curse me. As somebody from the East, I didn’t know so much about Yoruba people. What I knew was what I saw on television.
I’m from Umuahia in Abia State and I grew up in Aba. It’s almost impossible for me to imagine marrying a Yoruba woman. You get to meet people and then you understand that what you see on television or things you hear about places and people are not what they seem to be. You really need to see and experience things yourself to know better. I began to see that personality has nothing to do with tribe – it’s just the two individuals; how you understand and how you feel for each other, and whether you are willing to tolerate each other and sustain the relationship.
How did your family react to your decision to marry a Yoruba lady?
At first I thought it was going to be an issue and I was pretty much prepared. From the moment I decided I was going to marry her, I didn’t care whether anybody would escort me or not. Yet I still had to inform my people. As a matter of fact, I made up mind to go ahead without even telling anybody. I just felt that nobody had said no to the relationship all this while.
It was just my mum that said what? A Yoruba lady? I couldn’t hold back replying my mum, what do you mean Yoruba? Because of my mind set, I was ready for anybody. I asked her, do you know anyone? Have you lived with any Yoruba person before? Or have you lived in Yoruba land before? What do you know about the Yoruba? She fired back: don’t you watch TV? Watch what, I replied her? Then I said: You don’t sit here and scream, Yoruba. You don’t even know the person we are talking about; you have not seen her before.
I had expected you to say to me, okay, go and bring her.  Then I will leave her with you, so that when you are done, I will come back and pick her. I told her, for all I know she is better than you. My mum was shocked and looked at me, asking, what did you say? I said yes, she is better than you in everything. If you bet me, I will bring her and leave her with you. You don’t have right to judge her just because she is Yoruba. My mother didn’t take it lightly and I walked away. That was the last time any other person said anything contrary to what I was planning towards my marriage. Today, my mother is happy that I married her.
What did you find most attractive about her?
She has a good heart and a beautiful personality. I was convinced 100% that I had found a helpmate in her. I had a strong belief that whatever I wanted to achieve, it would be much easier to achieve with her involvement.
When does your typical day start?
We leave home at 7 am because we have drop off our children at school. Then we head to the office.
What has it been like working with your wife?
It has been a great experience, and it has helped me a lot. First, it has helped me keep my head straight and manage every aspect of the business better. Working with her is constant reminder that someone is here and watching over shoulder – so I don’t have to do as I please. Basically, her involvement has kept me on my toes and focused.
How do you feel when female customers give you a peck, especially when she’s around?
As far as I am concerned, a peck is just like a handshake. Somehow you feel a bit awkward shaking a woman’s hand because it’s really not what I am used to in this environment. People want to give a hug or a peck. That is fine as far as I am concerned. I don’t see it differently. I have been in this profession for over 12 years. So getting a peck from a female customer is pretty much normal.
How do you handle customers who particularly want your attention or insist that only you should make their hair?
Hair-do has to do with preferences. Both male and female customers have their preferences when it comes to someone touching their hair. Some say it is spiritual, some say they are not at peace when another person touches their hair. Individuals have their preferences when it comes to making hair. The only time I see people walking into a salon without preference is when they come for the very first time. Over 80 percent of people that go into a salon already know who they want to make their hair.
I think at that point it’s the creativity that speaks. It’s not any other thing and as far as I am concerned, I want every woman that comes into this place to say it must be Ugo that will make her hair. That way, you know you are on top of your game; you know what you are doing, you know that the client still needs your services and that you are relevant. The moment people start saying, oh he is not around, ok, and I will come tomorrow. Then I know am no more in the game. I have a lot of clients that come here and say it must be me.
They call on the phone to know if am around before they will come down. Even if I ask my assistant to do anything on their hair, I must still touch their hair for them to get satisfaction. I look at it as them wanting to get satisfaction, in terms of their hair looking good and being assured that they are looking beautiful and that a good job was done on their hair. I am not saying that other stylists are not good, but that is what obtains; it’s fine and welcome.
How do you cope with advances from women?
I don’t know how people see this. I have a lot of clients that are full of ego. I would not say that nobody has never has harboured such thoughts or feelings in her mind, but they have not done so physically or directly expressed it. I have a whole lot of people that are very friendly with me. I appreciate it so much because they are showing their friendship and at the same time patronizing my business.
I see it that I must keep up whatever am doing, so that they keep coming. If there is any other thing in their mind, I have not noticed it and I don’t look forward to seeing that. No matter what I don’t want anything that would ruin their feeling or make them stop coming. My customers are very classy people and I respect them a lot.
Would you want your daughters to get into this same business?
That would be fine but I will not force them. I would like to see them show interest in it, have willingness and the self-motivation to do even more than I have done. But if they discover their talent in other areas, I will give my support. What else can I wish for my children other than that they excel in whatever profession they choose. I won’t compel them to become stylists.

The suspect, who hails from Irakhor village in Esatko Local Government Area of Edo State, was said to have introduced himself as a civil engineer before Pastor Adewale and took to his heels after fraudulently collecting the said amount.
This was contained in a press release issued by the state police command and signed by its image maker, Micheal Ada, a copy of which was made available to the Nigerian Tribune on Sunday, in Lafia, the state capital.
According to the release, the suspect, after duping the church, relocated to unknown place with his family and changed his phone number in the hope that he would never be traced.
“The pastor could not believe the sudden disappearance of “Brother Moses Inobeme” as he was fondly called by members of the church. Having waited for months without any clue about his whereabouts, the pastor reluctantly reported the matter to the police.
“The police, on receiving the report, swung into action immediately and on February 14, at about 11.00 a.m, detectives attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Lafia, demonstrated their professional competency, traced the suspect to Jos, where he was arrested.
“The pastor said it started like a dream sometimes in August, 2012 when Moses entered the church, declaring his intention to join the church. He was given a warm reception by the church and was also accorded all privileges of a member. Moses told him that the owner of a land adjacent the church consented to sell it to the church. The pastor believed him and released N3.1 million to him to procure the land on behalf of the church,” the release added.
While commending his men for this breakthrough and astute performance, Ibrahim Tarfa, in charge of SCID, advised members of the public to beware of fraudsters going about claiming to have solution to problems.

Okocha, Kanu Made Me Choose Nigeria – Moses

Chelsea forward Victor Moses has revealed how former internationals Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha and Nwankwo Kanu talked him into choosing Nigeria over England, especially after he was overlooked by England coaches.
The former Crystal Palace sensation was named the Player of the Tournament at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa following his spectacular display as Nigeria won the African title for the third time.
Moses played for England from Under-16 to U-21 level and was tipped by former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan to be one of England ’s finest. But unfortunately, U-21 boss Stuart Pearce and former England manager Fabio Capello had little or no interest in Moses.
“I played all through the age levels for England and when Nigeria first asked, I wanted to concentrate on my club football,” the 22-year-old told Mirror.co.uk.
“Stuart Pearce may have spoken to my agent about England, but he never spoke to me directly and Fabio Capello never spoke to me or showed any interest in me.
“Nigeria asked again and it just seemed like the right thing to do.
“Jay-Jay Okocha and Kanu encouraged me as well before I started playing for Nigeria and it was great to speak to two legends of the country.”
Moses has yet to recover from the excitement of winning the AFCON, and he has set new targets of winning more trophies with club and country.
“It was amazing to win the tournament (AFCON). We did it for the nation. It means so much to everyone in Nigeria and it was great for me as well,” he said.
“Growing up in Nigeria, football was obviously a lot different. We just played on the streets, often on bare feet, and you used anything you could for a football.
“There were no facilities or teams. So it was a lot different when I came to England.
“It took me a little while to get used to playing organised games, on proper pitches with all the gear.”
Having started at Crystal Palace, Moses joined Wigan for £2.5m before making his summer move to Chelsea where he has already impressed in a club full of stars.
“There were a lot of big clubs interested in me when I was at Palace, but Wigan was the right move,” said Moses.
“Wigan gave me that chance and after playing in the Premier League for a while, I felt ready to make the next step.
“I joined Chelsea to improve and to win some medals. I’m confident both of those things will happen.”

Finally Pope Benedict Opens Up: Why God Ask Me to Go

In an emotional goodbye to over 100,000 supporters, the Pope revealed on Sunday that he was stepping aside because God told him to do so.

In a voice raw with emotion, Pope Benedict XVI told pilgrims in St Peter’s Square that he was resigning on February 28 because God had called on him to devote himself to prayer. He said God had told him ‘to climb the mountain’.

It was observed that pilgrims filled the piazza to witness a historical moment and thank the Pope for his eight year Pontificate at the Angelus Prayer.

Despite recently looking tired and frail, he spoke in a clear, strong voice, repeatedly thanking the faithful for their closeness and affection as they interrupted him, again and again, with applause and cheers.

The Pope stressed that he was “not abandoning the church.” Instead, he said he would serve the church with the same dedication, but would do so “in a way more suitable to my age and my strength”.

He also said he would continue to serve through meditation and prayer after his historic abdication. He completed the last Angelus of his tenure by saying he would always be close to the Church.

The 85-year-old officially steps down on Thursday. He will spend his last years in seclusion in a cloistered monastery within the confines of Vatican City. source:http://www.naijaonpoint.com
