Nigerian military claim to have discovered Hizbollah arms cache
Soldiers in northern Nigeria have uncovered a hidden arms cache that authorities there believe belonged to members of the Lebanese militant movement Hizbollah.
Officials showed journalists the weapons, which they said soldiers confiscated from under the master bedroom of a home in Kano, the north's largest city. The weapons had been packed into small coolers and concealed under several layers of concrete, the military said in a statement.
The arms, later shown on the state-run Nigerian Television Authority, appeared to include badly corroded rocket-propelled grenades, landmines, hand grenades, assault rifles and magazines. Some of the weapons appeared to have been charred.

Mark, Archbishop of Canterbury, others eulogise Achebe … as burial holds today
Thousands of people gathered at the Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, on Wednesday to celebrate the literary icon, Prof. Chinua Achebe, whose final burial will take place at his village, Ikenga Ogidi, on Thursday.
After extolling the virtues and achievements of the author of the famous Things Fall Apart, speakers at the Celebration of Life, a special programme organised by the Anambra State Government, called for his immortalisation.
The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Rev. Justin Welby, urged young people to emulate Achebe.
“Pick up the torch which he carried. Study your people with wisdom, insight and depth and come out with the resolution of their problems,” said Rev. Andrew Willer, who represented the head of the Anglican Church worldwide.
80 Year Old Man Becomes Oldest To Successfully Conquer Mount Everest
An 80-year-old Japanese man on Thursday became the oldest man to reach the top of Mt. Everest, officials said.
Yuichiro Miura reached the top of Everest Thursday morning with his physician son Gota, mountaineering official Gyanendra Shrestha said from the base of Everest.
Miura’s achievement eclipses that of a Nepali man who climbed Everest at age 76 in 2008.
The oldest woman to climb Everest is also a Japanese. She was 73 when she reached the top last year.
Miura broke his hip in an accident two years ago, and he underwent heart surgery in January.
“I am still healthy and strong. I think I have a good chance to reach the summit of Everest,” he said via phone earlier this month.

Were you born in the UK?
I was born in Lagos, Nigeria in April 1985 and left Nigeria at the age of six when my family returned to the UK – my parents had lived and studied in the UK previous to that.
After completing my primary school education in London, I attended secondary school in North Wales, Penrhos College – where my mother and her sisters also were educated; and following my GCSEs I returned to London for sixth form when I studied and passed the Advanced Level examinations (A – levels) in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Drama.
